Tom Battarbee

A highlight within his career would be securing a discharge straight from Ashworth Hospital to the community which was quite an exceptional case. Another that stands out is a client who, when he met him at Ashworth, was incredibly unwell in long-term segregation on a high-dependency ward and had been for many years. It was fantastic seeing his recovery and then going on the complete journey with him of step downs to the community and to the point last year where he has been so settled in the community that he was absolutely discharged from the Mental Health Act.

Outside of work, Tom loves running, he says he can certainly bore everyone to death about how training is going for his next marathon. One fact about Tom is he has a couple of titanium plates holding his face together from when he fractured his cheekbone playing football 7 years ago!
